I had been dealing with a three-week-long headache (I have since been healed—thank God). Nevertheless, sometimes the pain prevented me from going out witnessing. I was taking medicine to try and get rid of the pain, staying hydrated, everything, but the headache persisted. On this particular day, I still had the throbbing pain, but I did not want to stay in bed or rest, I wanted to do what I had been sent here to do—speak the Word. So, pushing through the pain, I read the Word, prayed, got dressed, and started the day.
My Way Ambassador teammate and I needed to run some errands before connecting with some other team members to do some outreach. We went across town to drop off some items for a neighbor, came back to the other side of town, got gas for my car, then went to a coffee shop to work on a few things. We finally finished our errands and now, at almost noon, we were finally ready to do outreach.
We ventured to the shopping center across the street and prayed in the car for open doors to speak the Word. Three large stores were in front of us, and we agreed to start in the first large department store. Walking toward that store, we thought about starting at the store next door instead. We stood for a minute between the two stores and decided to stick to our original plan and go into the first store.
We did a slow lap through the store and found lots of items, but not a lot of people. We said hello to a few people during our lap through the store, but no open doors to really speak the Word. We started heading toward the exit to go to the second store, when I had the thought to look at one last area we had not been to. We walked over to that section, and around the corner was a young lady with various pink-colored items in her shopping cart. I immediately commented on her pink items, stating it was my favorite color as well! Her eyes lit up, and a forty-minute conversation began! We connected on many topics, from favorite colors, to college stories, books, TV shows and movies, what we were doing in the area, and shared about the Word.
She stated that her sister was meeting her at the store, and to our surprise when her sister arrived, we found out they were twins! Unfortunately, my teammate and I had to leave, but we exchanged numbers with both ladies and invited them to join our team to see a movie that Sunday. They happily said yes to our invitation. Right before we left, the one sister I started the conversation with, looked at her twin and said, “Look, Sis, friends! Just like we prayed for!” My teammate and I exchanged an excited look and we exclaimed that we, too, had been praying for friends. We said goodbye and were walking to the car when I said to my teammate, “Look at that, two for the price of one!” We laughed and were so blessed with how the day went. We both marveled how if one thing had gone differently that day, we wouldn’t have run into those two wonderful ladies.
