God Exceeds Way Ambassador’s Expectations

For Way Ambassador, I took a job at a popular restaurant as a server. When I got the job, I wrote down twelve goals I wanted to see God help me accomplish at work over the course of the program. One of those goals was for Him to exceed my expectations. This one, along with the rest of the twelve, got checked off! I especially saw this exceeding of expectations with a particular goal: to pray with at least seven of the tables I served. As I worked “heartily, as to the Lord” and sought after accomplishing this goal, God provided the open doors, and I prayed with more than twelve tables (not including prayers with coworkers)!

There is one prayer that stands out to me. There was a couple that sat at one of my tables that was very rude, complaining from the minute they walked in the restaurant. When I came to introduce myself, they complained to me about a number of things before I could even ask what they would like to drink! They did apologize later and briefly mentioned that it had been a difficult day. I kept note of this and realized that there was something deeper than just what I saw on the surface—it was spiritual, and I made up my mind that at the end of their meal, I would pray for them. If I had been focused on the five senses, I would have gotten very upset and bothered throughout their stay, but seeing the situation spiritually helped me stay loving, long-suffering, and kind.

When dropping off their check, I asked for their names and offered to pray. They grudgingly answered and accepted the offer. Once I started praying, the lady started crying and told me all that was going on after I was done. She had health issues, was having trouble walking, her friend was battling cancer, and much more. The adversary, the Devil, was stealing, killing, and destroying in their life. He wanted them trapped in the five senses and blinded to the spiritually abundant life God has made available. But God worked in me to give them the opportunity to trust in Him and live a more than abundant life.

I may never see them again, but only God knows the impact my decision to pray with them had on their lives. It was also a witness to the people at the table right next to them that I was serving! They asked about the situation, and it opened the door for me to talk about our ministry and the Way Ambassador program!
