Witnessing Is So Much Fun
I have really grown to enjoy witnessing. I have seen God work in me, as I was in the right place at the right time, from running into a smoking building, to catching a man before he fell down an escalator. To me, witnessing is the epitome of walking by the spirit, and it is so much fun. I find being in the area, peacefully speaking in tongues, and being on the lookout for needs opens the doors wide open for God to direct me. I stay in contact with God, and He directs me to who I need to talk to. This is much improved from the old me who would find himself actively making excuses as to why he couldn’t go out and talk to people.
We Were in the Right Place at the Right Time
During my Way Ambassador tenure, I think some of my most memorable outreach times were when I was feeling discouraged or extra tired, when I thought something like, Is this what we need to be doing right now? or even, Some extra downtime sounds pretty nice. But, God called us to be faithful, and faithful I was going to be!
The first time I had a moment like this was at the very beginning of our tenure. One of my teammates and I had decided to visit the local gyms to check out the environment and pricing at each of them, believing to share the Word with people along the way. After the first one, however, I was wondering if it was truly the best use of our outreach time. My teammate encouraged me, we prayed together for God to show us what we needed to do, and we both decided to continue. I looked on my phone for another gym and found one that looked like it had a Bible-based poster in one of the photos! We quickly agreed to go there next, and got a tour from a super sweet girl who worked there. In that time, we were able to explain how we had just moved there for a Christian outreach program, and she got SO excited! She told us that she had very recently prayed about more direction in her life and had been discouraged herself. We were able to inspire and encourage her more in her own walk with God. We were in the right place at the right time, and we were able to get encouraged by that and this young woman as well!
I Saw an Open Door
While at work one day with a manager I had been sharing the Word with since I arrived in our city, he mentioned he was free after work. He had been asking a lot about speaking in tongues, and I saw this as an open door. I asked if he wanted to meet after work so we could lead him into speaking in tongues. He eagerly agreed. An hour and a half later, we were in the public library leading him into manifesting power from on high. HE SPOKE IN TONGUES! The longing in his heart was fulfilled, and his joy was palpable.
Being able to grow in my knowledge of God’s Word, trust in Him, and have meekness to follow instructions have opened great doors of blessings throughout the program.
