It was a day we were all looking forward to. Our plans were set to go out as a family and enjoy some activities together with the grandparents my children only saw at the most twice a year. The days and weeks previous had been full of life’s preparations and work. This was to be a day of fun!
When our youngest son woke up that morning, he did not look like his rosy-cheeked self, nor did he act like his energetic and lively self. On the contrary, he had no color to his skin or lips and he didn’t smile or talk. It was clear that he wasn’t feeling well. We picked him up and held him and prayed. As the first hour of his morning passed, we saw no improvement to his skin color or behavior. Then I had the thought to read from Egermeier’s Bible Story Book. I didn’t know exactly what to read, but I knew it would be a record with our living lord and savior Jesus Christ in it. God helped me turn to the exact record He knew would communicate to our little boy’s believing heart. While our son was tenderly being held in the arms of his earthly father, our heavenly Father was turning the situation around for us. This is what I read:
Jesus and the four fishermen left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon and Andrew. There they learned that Simon’s mother-in-law was sick with a fever. They brought Jesus to her. Taking hold of her hand, he lifted her up. The fever left at once. She got up and helped get the meal.
That was the only little section that I read. After I was done reading, I told my husband that I’d like to see our son’s appetite return by the end of the day. He responded by saying he’d like to see his appetite return by noon. Within minutes of us saying those words, our son sat up and requested some peach yogurt! While he was eating, his color returned. And when he was done eating yogurt, he requested a bowl of cereal. And when he was done eating that, he said that he would like to help make lunch. And he enjoyed serving, and then eating that! For the rest of that day it was as if he had never felt bad at all. We saw God’s power go to work for us quickly!
From the beginning of this challenge, we chose not to focus on the problem or the letdown of our plans being changed. My husband and I have become Word conditioned and not circumstance controlled. We have become this way because of the many years we have faithfully and freely availed ourselves to Way ministry fellowship meetings for spiritual nurture and growth. We didn’t need to take hours or even minutes to build up our believing for healing. We had already built that truth into our hearts from experiencing God’s healing power in times previous.
From the rightly divided Word taught in this ministry, I know how to believe rightly. “Right believing is constantly knowing God’s power and presence are in you and with you in every situation!” My right believing enabled God’s peace to rule in my heart the entire time we were handling this health challenge for our son. That left no room for doubts or fears to get into this situation. Our young son was miraculously healed! Our family saw God’s mighty power at work. As a family we are doing the works of Jesus Christ and greater, and we learned how to do this from God’s Word being held forth at Way ministry fellowships.
