Let’s See This Work!

When I first came to the ministry, I was not living an abundant life financially. I had just moved to a new area, and I desperately needed a job. I had been attending fellowship for a couple of weeks, and the believers expressed to me the importance of tithing and how God would supply my need in the physical category of life. Up until then I had never known that when an offering was made, there would be any benefit to me; only to the religious organization I was giving to.

Soon after I learned this principle of giving and receiving, I came to fellowship ready to give and see this principle work for me. I had eleven dollars and planned to give a dollar of it when the basket was passed at fellowship. When the time came to make available the abundant sharing, I quickly went to my coat that was in the closet to get my dollar. I got it and when the basket came to me, I excitedly tossed my dollar into the basket. But, it wasn’t the dollar, it was the ten-dollar bill!

I wasn’t about to ask for them to bring the basket back so that I could take out the ten-dollar bill and put in the one-dollar bill. Instead, I quietly said to myself, “Well God, You said that You will supply my need, let’s see this work!”

The next morning I received a call from a restaurant that needed a fast-order cook. Even though I had never done this job, they said they would train me! Soon after that, I received another job offer in a field that I desired to work in. Soon after that, I was offered another job that I had applied for when I first moved to the area. God not only supplied one job, but three, and each one better than the other.

I certainly learned the principle of giving and receiving, and I faithfully apply this principle today. God has been, and continues to be, faithful to supply my need beyond my expectations.

God Will Take Care of His Kids

A few years ago, my brother lost his job. He is a very successful businessman, and this was a real blow to him. The economy was not doing well, and his company was downsizing. They made the decision to eliminate a whole section of management to save money—the section where my beloved brother worked.

After about a month and a half of looking for a job, my brother texted me and told me what had happened. He asked for prayers from my husband and me. I went to my husband, and we talked about this situation. Not only would we pray for my brother to find a new and better job, but we wanted to show him how to protect himself from this ever happening again. We talked about teaching him how to tithe. We knew he and his wife and family faithfully attended church and that they would probably be familiar with the tithe.

I called my brother and asked him, “Do you tithe?” He replied, “No. Tell me what I need to do.” This opened the door for me to teach him about the tithe and also about abundantly sharing. He then asked me very specific questions such as, “Who do I give the tithe to?” and, “Should I tithe from all my money in our savings account or just what we are taking in right now?” These questions were good ones, and we could see that he was serious. After this conversation, we sent him a copy of the booklet Christians Should Be Prosperous. Then for the days following, we prayed and believed with him. We texted encouraging verses to him and kept in touch.

Within a week and a half we heard from my brother, and he had great cheerfulness in his voice. He told us that he was offered a job! A good job in the same type of business he had before. He would be doing the same type of work, which he is very qualified to do. Not only that, but God’s abundance really was great because he told us that he would be receiving 20 percent more pay and there would be significantly less travel involved with this new job. He and his wife were absolutely thrilled and so were we. Something interesting also happened the same day that my brother was offered this new and improved job. The state he lived in declared bankruptcy! Now this is certainly not a good situation for the state, but it did prove to my brother that God will take care of His kids when they do the Word no matter what is going on around them.

God is great and He takes care of us! The Word of God is the will of God! I believe it with my whole heart. I am thankful for how our ministry teaches God’s Word so clearly so that we can live it and win in life, and so that we can show others the way also.

Abundantly Share—the Return Is Exponential

I have been so blessed to learn about tithing and abundantly sharing. Many churches I have gone to asked for a tithe but never really explained the significance. They never taught me why, how, or what the blessing would be to me and my family. Several years ago, my father began regularly teaching about tithing, and more importantly, abundantly sharing. My wife and I have struggled with finances, and at the time, we were trying to pay off college debts. I always thought, “How can I tithe if I can’t pay my bills? Can’t this money be of better use going toward my loans or putting food in my mouth?” How blessed I was to learn the truth.

Malachi 3:10 reads, “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.” This is a challenge from God! He says to “prove me now herewith,” so I took Him up on the challenge. I abundantly shared, that is, I gave more than 10 percent of every single penny that came into my possession. If I got a $100 blessing, $11 went into the horn of plenty.

As I got paid each week, I would set aside my abundant sharing, then I paid my bills. And how those loans began to disappear! Doctors I hadn’t seen in a year sent me checks for $50, $100, even one for $350 because their “Internal audit” determined I had been overcharged. Financially I was being blessed abundantly, but Malachi 3:10 doesn’t just refer to finances. Physically, mentally, and spiritually I began to prosper in ways I never imagined.

To this day my wife and I ALWAYS abundantly share, and we have never regretted it. We do it with excitement and glee because we know the return is exponential. We just don’t have room enough to receive it! So, we get to give more!
